VibeWrite – Story of a Learning Pen

Introduction

VibeWrite looks like a normal pen. But this pen is intelligent enough to detect the mistakes such as typos, unnatural phrases, etc. It starts vibrating in the hand when the user makes spelling mistakes while writing on a piece of paper. This intelligent pen was developed by a group of researchers from Munich. Since its initial development, the prototype has undergone several rounds of testing and structural revamps to make its use easy. Despite the positive review in the media, the response to this intelligent pen was rather muted among the customers. That was the reason why it had undergone several rounds of feature enhancements to make it more attractive to the people.

New Radical Design for VibeWrite

The Munich-based developers seem to have understood the mistakes and failures in the past models. Hence, they have launched a new marketing campaign in the online environment to project the latest product in a new light. This time around this intelligent pen has fresh and clean design that is capable of delivering a crisp message across the board to the users. After the radical change in design, the developers were able to raise a sum of 451000 pounds on Seematch website, which is a welcome development.

Features of VibeWrite

The intelligent pen has onboard a small computer chip, which has some capabilities of the processor seen in Smartphones. It can detect the movements of hand fingers of the owner to tell which words are being misspelled. The pen has been created with an open Application Program Interface (API). Hence, others can develop other applications based on this API to enhance its functionalities. In the previous versions, this easy improvement was not possible.  If the pen clicks on the market, the developers are planning to introduce various other models like VibeWrite Office, VibeWrite Gastro and VibeWrite Medical to cater to the requirements of varied customers. The pen also supports cognition and memory. These features help children to develop handwriting skill without much of parental supervision. It is also capable of supporting people with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, as it suggests the way to move forward. People who want to study a second language can also use this intelligent pen to learn it. The application accesses the learning curve and suggests the module for effective learning. In short, it offers an alternative way to do things in the era of touch screen and typing based processing.

Features that Get Lost After Windows 10 Installation

Introduction

The software behemoth on June 2, 2015, came out with the launch date of its latest operating system this year. It is slated to release its new operating system on July 29, 2015. In connection with this, the US-based software major had revealed all the new advancements in the latest operating system Windows 10.  After disclosing the advances the operating system is going to come out with, Microsoft also released the system requirements for the new operating system and features that are likely to get lost after its installation. The interaction with the tech-geeks also revealed the way the new Windows 10 would behave while doing the operating system upgrade.

Feature Depreciation in Windows 10

During the interaction with the scribes from various tech magazines, the officials of the software behemoth listed out the features that would be missing in the new operating system. In this blog, we would be listing out the depreciated features when compared to those in Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems across various editions. These features can be used in the new operating system with a certain outside software support.

  •  Windows Media Centre: This feature is present in Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 8 Pro, and Windows 8.1 Pro. The users using these operating systems would lose this feature when they migrate to Windows 10 operating system. They would have to install separate playback software to observe the DVD content.

  •  Desktop Gadgets: This feature is seen in Windows 7. When the Windows 7 users move to the Windows 10 operating system, they would not be present at all.  So, such users would be missing games such as Solitaire, Hearts, and Minesweeper. In the new operating system, these games would be replaced by Microsoft Minesweeper and Microsoft Solitaire Collection.

  •  Floppy Disk: People using lower operating systems such as Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows XP, and Windows NT are in for another shock when they go for new operating system. They would not be able to use the floppy drives already present in their computers. In order to make them operational, they need to have extra drivers that detect these drives.

  • Change in Windows Live Essential. On migration from lower operating systems to Windows 10, people would see the replacement of OneDrive application by its inbox version.

  • Contana: After the operating system upgrade, the users may not be able to use Contana from the first day. The new operating system with this feature is scheduled to be released only in the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, China, Spain, and Germany, initially.

  • Speech Recognition: The new operating system requires high fidelity microphone array and a new hardware driver with exposed microphone array geometry.

  • Biometric Recognition: This feature is supported best in the new operating system only when a specialized infrared sensor is available with Iris detection facility rolled out in Windows Hello, and a fingerprint reader that comes with Windows Biometric Network.

  • Two-factor Security Authentication: This feature is not directly supported when the new operating system is installed. In order to make it functional, Windows 10 requires a fingerprint reader, illuminated infrared camera, or a Wi-Fi- or Bluetooth-supported phone and a Personal Identification Number (PIN).

  •  Device Guard: This facility is seen in Windows 8 operating system. This is not seen in Windows 10. However, it can be implemented in the new operating system with the help of certain third party software installation.
